Community Connections

Contributing To Our Community

Author John Holmes once said, “There is no exercise better for the heart than reaching down and lifting people up.” At Lawrence Park School, we strive to better the lives of individuals within our community by partnering with local organizations and supporting worthy causes. We hope to be a positive force for good in the lives of those around us.

Lawrence Park Community Church

Lawrence Park Community Church is one of the pillars in the community; a meeting place for families to connect and Lawrence Park School`s home. The church likes to think of itself as “united, unorthodox and unlimited”. United because the church is committed to the wellbeing of all members of the community. Unorthodox because of the inclusive environment which welcomes individuals regardless of their beliefs to join in the conversation. Unlimited because the church is always looking for ways to serve the community, like feeding the poor or sponsoring refugees, even when those projects seem overwhelming and difficult.

New Circles Community Services

A not-for-profit, grassroots organization that is committed to building strong and caring communities by providing necessities to those in need. Servicing residents of Thorncliffe Park, Flemington Park, Victoria Village, Taylor-Massey and Oakridge, as well as all Syrian and other government-assisted refugees across the city. Lawrence Park School supports New Circles regularly through such initiatives as their annual Costume Drives in the Fall as well as Book & PJ Drives in December.

North York Harvest Food Bank

The North York Harvest Food Bank provides a helping hand for families and individuals facing crises within the community. With a mission statement “To engage our community in meeting the food needs of northern Toronto by providing dignified food assistance, education and long-term food solutions,” their vision is to create a community where all members are able to meet their food needs.

Lawrence Park School is proud to be a sponsor of LPAA`s annual Family Fun Day providing breakfast to all of the hungry attendees.

The Ron White Shoe Drive is an annual event that strives to help those in need. Every January, the public is invited to donate gently worn winter footwear for men, women and children at any Ron White retail location in the GTA. The generosity of Canadians over these last 25 years has helped in the donation of over 40,000 pairs to needy organizations through Canada’s largest shoe drive.

Lawrence Park School believes in the importance of open communication. The LPS blog and weekly emails keep you informed about what your child is learning with us. Our team is always available at pick-up and drop-off times to discuss any questions or concerns you may have. You are always welcome to email us to book a private appointment or visit during Meet The Teacher Night. Finally, reports are issued at various times throughout the year to share your child’s progress.

If your child’s mind is a machine, food is the fuel. By collaborating with a Registered Nutritionist, we’ve ensured that your child is provided with a well-balanced meal as well as a snack, all of which are made in-house. We use fresh, locally sourced ingredients whenever possible to create food that tastes great and helps children grow and learn.
